Its been on my mind to start a free yoga class in a local park in my area for awhile now. Pretty much since last summer. But there are alot of details in putting it together. I mentioned it to my yoga class at the gym last week, and they loved the idea. A few parks were mentioned, and I thought I would let you all know of what they were and here your input. Please keep in mind these are all parks in the Gresham Area. I'm sorry for those that are unable to make this area, but since this is a free class, I really dont want to travel outside of Gresham.
1.) Fairview Community Park - located next to the city of Fairview in the this is my first choice so far, but am still looking into this as an option.
2.) Main city Park (Gresham) - on powell in downtown gresham.
Basically looking for a large open area, close in to town. Hopefully flat and level, hard surface areas are always good.
The idea behind the concept. Well there are a couple reasons why I would love to teach yoga in the park.
1.) its a great heated room, offering yoga in a heated room helps stretch ligaments that are hard to get to during a regular yoga class.
2.) I would love to introduce the wonders of yoga to people who dont normallly get it. Yoga has so many benefits, and they should be available to everyone. No matter what their financial status is.
3.) Its an excuse to get outdoors and enjoy nature! a great mediatative tool.
4.)As an instructor, students are really the best teachers. Its always great to try to teach to new clients and broaden my horizons.
With all of these great qualities, why would i not want to teach a yoga in the park class? Now, lets here what you have to say!
