Yoga Fundamentals

This yoga fundamentals workshop is designed to help you feel grounded in your yoga practice, by going over the basics of any yoga practice. Whether you have been practicing for a short time or a long time, you are sure to learn something that you have either forgotten or never learned.

In this 3 hour workshop we will be going over

  • Bandha’s – Padha (foot seal), Mula (Root seal), Uddiyana (belly lock), Maha, Jalandhara (throat lock) & Hasta (hand seal) Bandha.
    • In this workshop, we will address how these locks are used in poses to help us find stability, balance and good alignment.
  • Breathing Techniques 
    • Going over the basic breathing patterns that are used in your yoga practice to help you really center your practice, and let go of stress.
  • Drishti or Gaze
    • And why it’s important.
  • Sun Salutations
    • Practice with Pose Breakdown. You will be taught the basic Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskara) and we will be breaking down each pose in our Sun Salutations, so that you feel successful in each pose. 

            This workshop starts out with a one hour mixed level class, which will be followed by a brief break and then pose breakdown. At various times we will be going over the Bandha’s as well as Breathing techniques and Gaze.
            This workshop has a limit of 15 people in order for everyone to receive individual attention in their pose breakdowns. Please bring a mat, and any props you may have such as a strap, block, or blanket. Props are not mandatory, but are encouraged if you have them.
