Explore your emotions.....

Todays readings came from the wonderful book
This is a wonderful read if you are looking for a book on the ethics of yoga, also called the Yamas and Niyamas, part of the 8 limb path of yoga.

Today we explored the fear that arises when we do poses like headstand, where we feel we are going to fall. Falling seems scary but if we use Compassion and Kindness to support our lives and allow the fear to come and accept it for what it is, we can move forward with a healthy life. Instead of hiding from our fears, because they are uncomfortable. Deborah tells us that in the west we have the tendency to hide from the emotions associated with being uncomfortable, such as dying, sickness, violence. In other countries this is welcomed as a normal part of life, accepted for what it is. If we can bring the compassion and kindness that we offer to others, and show it to ourselves, when we feel these emotions, we can live a life where we are not dwelling on the negative, feeding the lamb, not the wolf. (read the book, and you'll find more about that.)

We've been exploring a lot of Svadyaha in class recently, as I have been encouraging self Study. Let your practice of yoga continue with this self study, always admiring yourself and exploring yourself, you are a great gift and are worthy of the study.

P.S - on a side note, I'm working on bringing Yoga in the Park back, but to a new location. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for the new info.

I hope you all enjoyed class today, and I look forward to so many more
Compassion and Kindness,
Namaste,

Studying the Yamas & Niyamas at Bally Total Fitness

This week is the first full week of discussion of the Yamas and Niyamas from the Yoga Sutras. With week one we are discussing Ahimsa - Nonviolence (nonharming). The act of nonharming in speech, thought and action towards each other and ourselves.

Join the discussions going on at Facebook this week. Along with an assignment to help you explore how ahimsa works in your life. And a recommended reading. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Present-with-Kris/117599518270012
